Looking for the sweep on Sunday, Florida State softball squared off against Halie Pappion in the circle for Boston College.
For the first time not facing Abby Dunning to start the game, Kaley Mudge got a lead off hit. With one runner on, Jaysoni Beachum made her presence known early. The freshman sent a 2-run shot over the wall in left field to open the scoring.

2-0 Noles
Up 2-0, Isa Torres singled with no outs, but Pappion retired the next three batters to end any further threat from the visiting Seminoles.
Emma Wilson took the circle for FSU as the starting pitcher, facing a dangerous part of the Boston College lineup. Working with a lead, Wilson retired her first three batters, including a strikeout and a ground ball back to the circle.
The top of the lineup came up for the second time to start the top of the 3rd, with a bunt from Mudge. Seeing Pappion well, Beachum added another hit to her total with a double to put two in scoring position. Torres added on a run on a ground out, and pushing Beachum to 3rd. Pappion secured two quick outs to end the half inning.
Returning for the next inning, Wilson started with a lead off single. A sacrifice bunt and ground out moved the runner over to third, with the top of the lineup next up. With her first runner in scoring position of the day, Wilson gave up a single to make it 3-1.
After the run given up, Makenna Reid switched roles with Wilson. Inheriting a baserunner, Reid saw a 2-run homerun for her first batter of the game. After the long ball, Reid got her first strikeout to keep it 3-3.
Looking for a run in the 4th inning, FSU suffered two outs before Katie Dack came to the plate. A two out single from Dack and Devyn Flaherty started a two out rally for the ‘Noles. With Mudge back up for the third time, she knocked a double down the line to score the pair.

Addison Jackson started the 5th inning in the circle for BC. Facing Torres as her first batter, the freshman shortstop laid down a textbook bunt single to lead off. However, with Torres at third following a pair of outs, the offense wasn’t able to push her across and kept it a 5-3 lead.
Now in the home half of the inning, Reid gave up a one out double before Ashtyn Danley replaced her. Before facing the top of the order, Danley gave up a single that put two runners in scoring position. An intentional walk loaded the bases with two outs, but a clutch strike out from Danley got FSU out of the jam.

Absolute BOMB from Katie adds two more for the Noles
Back out for her second work of the day, Pappion hits Flaherty and gets the fielder’s choice to erase her and keep Mudge safe at first. A slower ground ball from Beachum had her safe and runners on the corners.
A break to replace Beachum with Annie Potter proved successful after the PR stole second. Now with two runners in scoring position, Torres took the opportunity to drive in both of her teammates.
